Because life has thrown me an unexpected curveball

If you follow me on twitter, you’ll know that in the last 24 hours, I discovered that the curveball I thought I avoided last month came back to bite me in the ass. Last month, someone stole my paypal debit card info and proceeded to spend $1,622.63 of my money.

While I was able to stop all the transactions from going through, paypal didn’t tell me that if the transactions weren’t voided by the other party, the payments would still go through.

You can imagine my surprise when I logged into paypal yesterday and saw this …

Heart attack. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy.

So I called paypal earlier this morning, and all they said was “sorry”. You guys know how hard I’ve worked to get to where I am now. It’s hard being an independent designer. I work my ass off!  I support myself. I started my line when I was 19. Back then, I was living in an NYU dorm. Now, i’m 22 and living in a penthouse. I didn’t get to where I am now through stealing. I believe in karma, and I know I will bounce back from this but need time to heal and regroup. I’m taking the weekend off and going home to see my Mom and Dad. I’ll be back in the city Monday.

I have always been reluctant to get a PayPal debit card. This is another reason to avoid one.

PayPal is a nice service, but their customer service is sorely lacking in emergency situations.

I’m sorry this happened, but those thieves will get what’s coming to them. It’s a lot of money, but you’ll be back on your feet again soon! Life is interesting like that. /: Good luck!
